While navigating in the Danish waters, you are obligated to follow the regulations
as set forth in
MARPOL Annex VI, regarding emission of Carbon dioxide (CO2), Sulphur (SOx),
Nitrogen Oxide (NOx).
Please note that when passing The Great Belt bridge, a sample of the vessels emis-
sion may be collected by the authorities.
Please observe that the Baltic Sea is considered a “special area” in the MARPOL73/
78, and thus is subject to strict regulations regarding the use of incinerator,
waste treatment as well as handling of waste products after cleaning of cargo holds.
PSC inspections after 2020 sulphur cap
The 2020 sulphur cap will enter force on 1st January 2020, meaning that a comprehensive
approach to compliance is expected by all Port State Control (PSC) regimes.
PSC inspections will be conducted according to the IMO PSC procedures, the 2019
guidelines for PSC under MARPOL Annex VI.
